Identifying alarms

An alarm is indicated by a signal tone and a red alarm light, both of
which are activated in the specified rhythm for the alarm type, and by
a message on the display.
4.7.1

Concentration pre-alarm A1

– Intermittent signal tone and blinking red
alarm lamp.
Display: Gas type, measured value
units and » A1 « displayed alternately
Acknowledging the pre-alarm:
Press the » OK « key to switch off the signal tone. The red alarm

lamp and the alternating display of the units and » A1 « are
switched off only when the concentration drops below the alarm
threshold.
The warning A1 is not latching and disappears when the
concentration drops below the alarm threshold.
4.7.2 Concentration main alarms A2 (for O
– Intermittent signal tone and blinking red
alarm lamp.

For a main alarm:

Leave the area immediately. Danger to life!
A main alarm is latching and cannot be acknowledged or
cancelled.
After leaving the area (when the concentration is less than the alarm
threshold A2 (for O , greater than the lower threshold A1):

– For O : the signal tone and the red alarm lamp are switched off.

– For all other sensors: the signal tone is switched off. The red alarm
lamp and the alternating display of the units and » A1 « are
switched off only when the concentration drops below the warning
threshold.
4.7.3

Blocking alarm

If the measuring range is exceeded significantly at the CatEx channel
(very high concentration of flammable materials), a blocking alarm is
triggered. The CatEx blocking alarm can be acknowledged manually
by switching the device off and back on again in fresh air (free of
flammable gases and vapours).

A2 If a blocking alarm is triggered, neither a bump test or a calibration

can be carried out.
If the instrument is in calibration mode (menu or PC), no blocking

alarm is triggered.
If there is a calibration fault, no blocking alarm is triggered for the

corresponding CAT sensor if the concentration rises above the
blocking alarm threshold.
