IV. Before putting the pump into operation
ATTENTION
y Carefully read the entire user's manual before first use
and keep it with the product so that the user can learn
about it. If you lend or sell the product to somebody,
include this user's manual with it. Prevent this user's
manual from being damaged. The manufacturer takes
no responsibility for damages or injuries arising from
use that is in contradiction to this user's manual. Before
using this appliance, first acquaint yourself with all the
control elements and parts as well as how to turn it
off immediately in the event of a dangerous situation
arising. Before using, first check that all parts are firmly
attached and check that no part of the equipment, such
as for example safety protective elements are damaged
or incorrectly installed and also check the quality and
suitability of the suction and delivery hose that you
wish to use for pumping. Do not use equipment with
damaged parts and have it repaired at an authorised
service centre for the brand - see chapter Servicing and
maintenance.
CONNECTING THE SUCTION AND DELIVERY
HOSES
y It is possible to use standard hoses, fittings and gasket
seals.
y Hose connectors for attaching the suction and delivery
hoses and the hose clamps necessary for attachment
are supplied with the pump.
y The hoses must the reinforced type so that they are not
deformed during suction or ruptured during delivery.
These hoses should be rated for an operating pressure
of approx. 6 bar with an emergency pressure rating
above 15 bar.
y The suction hose should be as short as possible so that
the weight of the water column is as small as possible.
The performance of the pump will then be improved by
either a higher delivery or flow rate.
ATTENTION
y Always insert a inlet strainer onto the entry into the
suction hose (fig. 1 C, position 18). The inlet strainer
prevents sucking larger mechanical particles and
objects into the hose and thereby prevents the hose
EN
from clogging or the seizure of the pump. In the event
that pump 414502 is used for a suction depth in the
range from 3 to 8 m, install a foot valve at the entry to
the suction hose, see chapter Technical specifications,
paragraph 2).Pump 414503 does not require a check
valve to achieve the maximum suction depth of 8 m,
however the flow rate of the pumped fluid will be
lower. To increase the flow rate, it is nevertheless possi-
ble to use a foot valve.
y The delivery hose should also be as short as possible as
the greater the length the lower the flow rate.
  I nstall a hose connector on to the
thread of the suction and delivery
fitting in sequence 1-4 shown in fig.
3, i.e.: gasket - hose connector over
which a cap nut is placed, which will
then hold the hose connector on the
male/delivery fitting. Then, on to the
installed hose connector, slide on the
hose with a hose clamp, and firmly
tighten it so that the hose resists the
water pressure at the outlet and so
that air is not drawn in at the inlet due
to leaks around the hose.
ATTENTION
y Do not use reduction fittings to connect hoses of
smaller diameter than the supplied hose connectors.
This would pressurise the system.

PRIMING THE PUMP HOUSING WITH WATER
ATTENTION
y Before every use of the pump, always fill
the pump housing with water. Otherwise,
the sealing element will be damaged due
to excessive overheating caused by "dry"
running. In the event that the pump runs
"dry", immediately shut off the motor
and allow the pump housing to cool down
and only then pour in the water.
Fig. 4, pouring water into the
pump housing before starting
1. Remove the pump housing priming hole bolt (fig. 1B,
position 16; fig. 2B, position 14) and completely fill
up the pump housing with water.
2. Then screw the bolt back on and tighten firmly.

MIXING THE FUEL MIX AND FILLING UP
WITH FUEL
FUEL
ATTENTION
y The pump is equipped with a two-stroke
combustion motor that uses a mix of
lead-free petrol and two-stroke motor oil
mixed at a petrol:oil ratio of 40:1.
When fuel is poured for the first time
into the fuel tank of a new pump that
has not yet been used, use a petrol:oil
ratio of 35:1 in order to lubricate the sys-
tem. The next time that the fuel tank is
filled, use a petrol:oil ratio of 40:1.
Never use a mix that is mixed at a diffe-
rent ratio because a greater amount of
oil in the petrol would cause problems
with starting, would soil the spark plug,
carbonise the exhaust and significant
emissions of exhaust fumes would
result. On the other hand, an insuffici-
ent amount of oil would lead to motor
damage due to insufficient lubrication.
Using pure petrol without oil or a poorly
mixed fuel mix will damage the motor;
a free warranty repair cannot be claimed
for such damage.
y To mix your fuel mix, use quality lead-
-free petrol e.g. RON 95, 98 and a qua-
lity motor oil for air-cooled two-stroke
motors.
y Never use motor oil with a recommended
mixing ratio of 200:1.
y The use of poor quality fuel or oil negatively affects the
starting, operation and performance of the pump's motor.
y Never use a fuel mix older than 90 days. Petrol absorbs
water, aerates and loses its quality over time, which
could cause problems with starting up or could have
a negative effect on the operation of the motor. Pour
the old fuel mix out of the tank and take it away for
ecological disposal before pouring in a new mix.
