Electric Connection

In areas where a potentially explosive atmosphere can arise, the positioner can only be used in a
closed housing with built in, approved electronics, supplied with electrical auxiliary power.

NOTE
Please note: The transmission ratio selector can only be adjusted when the device is open.
Therefore check this setting before closing the housing (see Chapter 7.1, page 49).

Fitting the bus cable
1. Isolate the bus cable as shown in figure 5, page 64 (appendix).
2. Open the positioner housing by undoing the four cover screws.
3. Feed the prepared bus cable through the screw--type cable gland.
4. Secure the shield with the cable clip and the two screws to the housing.
5. Tighten the screw--type cable gland.
6. Connect the wires as shown in figure 6, page 64 to terminals 6 and 7 of the motherboard (the polarity is imma-
terial).
7. To absorb interference impulses, the positioner must be connected to earth using a low resistance equipoten-
tial bonding conductor. The positioner is fitted with an additional cable within the plastic housing for this pur-
pose. Connect this cable through the cable clip to the shield of the fieldbus cable and to the equipotential
bonding conductor.
Devices with metal housings have corresponding terminals on the outside of the housing, which also must
be connected to the equipotential bonding conductor.
For applications within hazardous areas, ensure that there is adequate equipotential bonding between the
hazardous area and the non--hazardous area.

Before supplying the positioner with electrical energy, screw on the end cover and lock with
the safety catch.
