To block wheels with bead wires - which are almost always without the central flange - it is necessary to use the following accessories: AUC
- Self-Centering Device; BBD Bead Breaking Disk; LC - Bead wire lever.
N.B. To position the self-centering device, consult the instructions given in the 'CLAMPING THE WHEEL' paragraph. The bead breaking disk
must be positioned on the horizontal carriage, and blocked with the bar, as shown in Figure Z.
BEAD BREAKING AND DEMOUNTING
1) Clamp the wheel on the self-centering device, as described in the 'CLAMPING THE WHEEL' paragraph, with the bead wire turned towards the
outside.
2) Remove the inside valve to deflate the tyre, and remove any old balancing weights.
3) Install the bead breaking device BBD on the right of the carriage (see Fig. Z).
4) Position the bead breaking device against the tyre, close to the bead wire (see
Figure Z1).
5) Turn the self-centering device while moving the bead breaking disk forward very
gradually, following the profile of the bead-wire, until the first bead has been completely
detached.
N.B.: Lubrication is necessary during this operation.
WARNING: To prevent damage to the inner tube and valve, move forward with
extreme care, stopping the bead breaking disk immediately after the bead has
been removed.
6) Repeat the operation, this time moving the bead breaking disk against the bead wire
(Fig. Z2) until freeing the clamping ring, which can then be removed using the relative
lever LC, or with the help of the disk itself.
7) Remove the bead wire.
8) Move the bead breaking disk away from the wheel, and then remove it from the
carriage.
9) Install the bead breaking disk on the inside of the carriage.
10) Position the valve inside the rim slot.
Slowly turn the valve so that it stays inside the rim.
11) Turn the self-centering device, meanwhile gradually moving the bead breaking disk
forward, following the profile of the rim, until the second bead has been removed.
N.B. Lubrication is necessary during this operation.
12) Continue turning, taking care not to push the second bead beyond the mid-point
of the rim (see Fig. Z3).
13) Remove the bead breaking disk from the tyre changer, then position the carriage
close to the tyre.
14) Rest the tyre on the wheel centering rollers, and move towards the outside so as
to completely remove it from the tyre.
N.B. Support the tyre so that it does not fall once it has been separated from the
rim.
15) Remove the tyre from the tyre changer.
