b) Adjusting tooth backlash

For safety reasons, you may only make this adjustment when the battery packs are disconnected from
the speed controller.
Check tooth backlash at regular intervals. Tooth backlash has to be adjusted at the latest when the electric motor, the
motor pinion or the main pinion is exchanged.
To do that, the whole motor including the two aluminium brackets must be moved after first removing the four screws
of the aluminium brackets at the underside of the chassis.
Put a paper slip between the motor pinion and the main pinion. Then manually turn the main pinion so that the paper
strip is pulled in between the two pinions.
The pressure of the paper pushes back the electric motor as much as necessary. Now tighten the four screws of the
aluminium brackets on the underside of the chassis again and carry out another tooth backlash check with a paper
strip.
The pinions should not be absolutely backlash-free (motor pinion too close to the main pinion), they
should, however, not have too much clearance either.
In both cases, the life of the motor pinion or the main pinion is reduced significantly. If there is too much
clearance, the teeth of the motor pinion might skip and virtually mill off the teeth of the main pinion.
c) Changing the crystal
There must be no other remote controls/models using the same frequency in the range of the remote control, as the
transmitters interfere with each other. As a result, the models no longer respond properly to the remote commands. If
other models are operated in your range, talk to the other operators to decide what frequencies you use.
Only use suitable accessory crystals for the remote control and the receiver.
Before changing a crystal, first turn off the vehicle and then the remote control.
Transmitter crystals are labelled "T" or "TX", receiver crystals are labelled "R" or "RX". To ensure proper function, do
not mix up the crystals.
