Cleaning and maintenance

a) General

Before cleaning or servicing, turn off the vehicle and completely separate the rechargeable battery pack
from the speed controller. If you have just operated the vehicle, allow all parts (e.g. motor, speed controller,
etc.) to cool down completely first.
Clean the whole vehicle after using it. Remove dust and dirt using e.g. a long-haired clean brush and a vacuum
cleaner. Compressed air aerosols may also be helpful.
Do not use cleaning sprays or conventional household cleaners. They may damage electronic components
and lead to discolouration on the plastic parts or the body.
A soft, slightly moistened cloth can be used to wipe the vehicle body. Do not rub too hard, otherwise there will be
scratch marks or the paint will be damaged.
At certain intervals, maintenance and function checks must be carried out that ensure trouble-free operation and
roadworthiness for a long time.
Motor vibrations and shocks when driving can loosen parts and screws. This is why you should always check the
tightness of wheel nuts and all screws before and after using the model. The same applies to other parts of the vehicle.
Check if the tyres sit correctly on the wheel rims and if the adhesions have loosened.
All ball bearings and the gears of the vehicle have been properly lubricated by the manufacturer. Generally, relubrication
is not necessary.
Oil or grease must not be applied to the friction clutch!
Only use original spare parts to replace worn-out or defective vehicle parts.
Make sure that cables are not bent or squeezed and install all cables so that they do not get caught in the drive
mechanism.
Check the model for damage before every use. If you notice any damage, the vehicle must not be used anymore and
has to be taken out of operation.

b) Adjusting tooth backlash

Tooth backlash has to be adjusted when the electric motor, the motor pinion or the main pinion is exchanged.
Loosen the attachment screws of the electric motor so that you can move the motor with little pressure (the motor must
not be loose!). The motor pinion and the main pinion now engage without clearance.
Insert a small paper strip (thin letter paper) between the motor pinion and the main pinion.
Now move the main pinion by hand so that the paper strip is pulled in between the pinions.
The pressure of the paper pushes back the electric motor as far as necessary. Now fasten the attachment screws of
the motor in this position.
