Working technique

Attention! Danger from kickback!
Kickback may cause fatal cut injuries.
If a kickback occurs, the saw will be suddenly
and uncontrollably thrown towards the user.
Hold the saw firmly with both hands, ensuring that
your thumbs and fingers clasp the handles on the

chain saw
. Move your body and arms into
a position in which they can withstand the
kickback forces.
Never release the chain saw.

 Apply a uniform pressure to the unit, however not
excessive force.
 If possible, place the unit's tree claw on the

Felling trees

Warning Risk of accidents!
Do not fell trees unless you have adequate
experience and have had proper training!
Only fell trees which have a trunk diameter
less than the sword length of the chain saw.
Warning Direction of fall!
Select the direction of fall so that you can escape
in the opposite direction
Ensure that the falling tree cannot become hung
up in other trees.
When felling trees, consider the following:
– The thick branch formation on one side;
– The natural inclination and bend of the tree;
– The wind direction. Do not fell trees in a strong
wind;
– Damage to wood.
Attention!
Ensure that there are no people or animals in the
danger zone (within the fall area) of the tree.

 Keep two escape routes clear of trip hazards
in case the tree does not fall in the expected
direction

 Remove branches and large roots, which will
impede felling, from the lower part of the tree.
 Saw a scarf into the trunk
This scarf cut determines the direction in which the
tree will fall and must be 1/4 of the trunk diameter.
 Make the felling cut on the opposite side
of the scarf

The felling cut must be made 3–5 cm above
the horizontal scarf cut.
