Each product is shipped with a key diskette (authorization diskette).
This contains an authorization key required to operate the product.
During installation, the key is copied to your hard disk. Each product
installed requires a valid authorization for unrestricted operation. If
authorization information is missing, a message to this effect is
displayed at regular intervals.
The authorization diskette cannot be copied.
You can also install the authorization later using the AUTHORSW.EXE
program on the key diskette.
The authorization information is saved in the hidden directory
"\ax nf zz" on the drive on which you installed the product.
Please do not delete the directory "\ax nf zz" or any files it
contains.
If you want to reformat your hard disk, you must first transfer the
authorization information back to the key diskette using the
AUTHORSW.EXE program. If you do not do this, the authorization
information is lost and you can no longer use the product. When
you uninstall the authorization information, make sure that you
use the original diskette from which you installed the
authorization information.
The authorization information cannot be transferred from the
hard disk to a diskette or from a diskette to the hard disk by
simply using the normal copy function.
If you want to update the SIMATIC NET software, you do not need
to retransfer the authorization. Instead, you can remove the check
mark from the "Run automatic authorization" check box in the
"Target drive" dialog or later click the "Skip" button in the "Key
diskette" dialog.
