17 Troubleshooting
The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your product failing to work
properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.
Fault
The product cannot be started.
Product works with interruptions.
Poor cutting performance.
Product runs with difficulty/saw
chain jumps off.
Chain gets hot, smoke develop-
ment during sawing, discolouration
of the rail.
Cutter bar becomes hot.
Poor cutting results.
Unusual vibration

Possible cause
On/off switch is defective.
The engine is defective.
Engine brake lever not pressed.
Spark plug defective.
Fuel tank is empty.
Contaminated fuel.
Internal loose contact.
On/off switch defective.
Saw chain fitted incorrectly.
Saw chain is blunt.
Chain tension insufficient.
Cutter bar blunt.
Too much friction due to lack of lubrica-
tion.
Dirty cutter bar.
Poor cutting technique.
Chain tension insufficient.
Too little chain oil.
Cutter bar blunt.
Cutter bar has nicks.
Too much friction due to lack of lubrica-
tion.
Thread coil does not have enough cutting
thread.
Cutting device is dirty.
Guide rail is loose.

Remedy
Please contact our service department.
Press engine brake lever.
Replace spark plug.
Fill with fuel.
Empty the fuel tank and fill with clean fu-
el.
Please contact our service department.
Fit the saw chain correctly.
Have the saw chain sharpened by a pro-
fessional or replace the saw chain.
Check the saw chain. Tension the saw
chain if necessary.
Check cutter bar, sharpen or contact our
service department.
Oil the cutter bar.
Clean the cutter bar.
Observe the working instructions.
Check the saw chain. Tension the saw
chain if necessary.
Check the automatic oil system. Top up
with chain oil if necessary.
Check cutter bar, sharpen or contact our
service department.
Oil the cutter bar.
Extend the cutting thread / replace the
thread coil.
Clean the cutting device.
Check that the guide rail is tightly fitted.
