Fitting and removing the
spool
Notes
• When using the spool (54), the pro-
tective cover (14) with extension of
the protective cover (16) must be
fully fitted.
• WARNING! Risk of injury! Do
not replace the non-metallic fila-
ments of the spool end with metal-
lic filaments!
Fitting the spool (Fig. I)
1. Switch off the device, wait until
all moving parts have come to a
complete standstill and remove the
batteries.
2. Place the tool on the ground in a
stable position.
3. Block the uptake spindle (59) with
the hex key (22).
4. Place the thinner washer (58) on
the uptake spindle (59).
5. Screw the spool cap (17) onto the
tool holder (59).

Removal is done in reverse order.

Extending the line

Your tool is equipped with a dual-line
auto-tap feature, i.e. the two strings
are extended when you tap the cut-
ting head on the ground.
CAUTION! Risk of injury! Thread
remnants can be projected and lead
to injuries.
Procedure
1. Hold the tool in operation over a
grassy area.
2. Tap the cutting head lightly on the
ground a few times.
This causes the line to lengthen.
3. The line cutter (16) installed in the
extension of the protective cover
(15) cuts off the thread to the de-
sired length.

If the thread ends can not be
lengthened:
1. Switch off the device, wait until
all moving parts have come to a
complete standstill and remove the
batteries.
2. Press the spool insert as far as it
will go
3. Pull firmly on the line end.
If no line ends are visible:
1. Spool damage, p. 31

Requirements
• Switch off the device, wait until all
moving parts have come to a com-
plete standstill and remove the bat-
teries.
• Fit the blade guard (10).
Procedure (Fig. E)
1. Unlock and hold the safety lever
(43).
2. Press the locking lever (45) at the
same time to release the fixation.
3. Turn the hedge trimmer attach-
ment to the desired position using
the handle for adjusting the cutter
bar (44).
7 (+1 Storage position) positions
are possible.
4. Release the safety lever (43) and
locking lever (45).
Make sure that the safety lever (43)
and locking lever (45) snap back
into their original positions.
5. Check that the hedge trimmer at-
tachment is engaged in the selec-
ted position.
