A solar energy system that is connected to the mains electri-
city grid must satisfy all the general standards for electrical
systems, regulations relative to decentralised power gene-
ration and additional regulations for photovoltaic solar (PV)
energy systems.
The most important standards in the Netherlands are:
NEN 1010
Safety regulations for low voltage systems
K 150 Small grid-connected photovoltaic systems
EnergieNed
Supplementary requirements for decentrali-
sed low voltage power generation systems
EnergieNed
Guidelines for the electrical installation of
grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems
Particular attention must be paid to the following require-
ments of the standards listed above.
In the Netherlands, no more than .5 Amperes may be
delivered back to an existing electrical consumer group
by an external power generation system (approximately
600 Wp). No more than one solar energy system can be
connected to each separate group.
It is recommended that a DC earth leakage circuit breaker
is included in the electrical system (IEC 60755 class B or
a class A device with special dispensation, e.g. a Holec
'Alamat' or IVT type 'A510'). Steca is offering a suitable
circuit breaker together with a mains connection cable in
a package as StecaGrid Link.
The plug is an acceptable mains isolator for low power
systems. It is recommended that an isolator switch is
wired between the inverter and the building wiring system
in the case of more powerful systems (>1 kW). The plug
can be removed from the cable where this applies.
NOTES
1. There is no need for a separate main isolator switch and
earth leakage circuit breaker if the (optional) StecaGrid Cont-
rol N or StecaGrid Control D resp. D1 control units are used.
. An inadmissible earth leakage current, which will trip the
earth leakage circuit breaker and turn the system off, can be
caused by solar panels with (or mounted to) an earthed me-
tallic or metallised back plate. The use of this type of panel is
not recommended.
