9. Starting charging process:
First of all, set the desired parameters for nominal voltage, nominal capacity and charging
rate, see sections 7 and 8.
• Connect the accumulator or accumulator pack with the correct polarity to the two output terminals.
The output terminals are marked in colour (black = minus/-, red= plus/+).
• Press the "Start/Stop" key to start the charging process.
• The red LED "Laden" will light up in the phases 1 and 2 of the charging process, i.e. during the
around 2 to 3-minute soft-start phase and during the actual quick charging process (in the Reflex
charging process).
In the soft-start phase, the connected accumulator is formed in that the charging current is
increased slowly up to the final value set. During the soft start, the discharge current impulses are
switched off.
• In the quick-charging phase, the accumulator is fed cyclically high current impulses of approx. 1
second duration (1024ms) followed by very short discharge impulses (5ms). These discharge
impulses take place with the approx. 2.5 to 3-fold charging current.
If the charging current is, for example, 2A, the discharge impulse will take place at about
5A to 6A!
Quick charge impulse
A complete charge cycle
The current accumulator voltage is registered in a measuring phase without current. As soon as
the increase speed of the accumulator voltage becomes zero, the control recognises this and
terminates the quick charging process.
This point of time is designated in figure 4 on the next page with "Reverse point".
