11. Retrofitting the Landing Flaps

Experienced model builders are able to retrofit landing flaps in the model. This is not usually necessary, but the
model has been prepared for landing flap installation ex works and the conversion is comparatively easy to perform.
However, a remote control with more than four channels will be needed for this. The necessary parts, such as servo,
rudder horn and linkage rods, must be purchased or produced yourself.
In order to retrofit the landing flaps, proceed as follows:
The figures are included on the following page.
• Draw a stripe of 150 mm length on the inside of the aileron (see figure 16 A).
• Cut a narrow strip out of the aileron in the separating point (see figure 16 B).
• Use a screwdriver to lift the cover of the servo chute from the wing (see figure 16 C).
• Insert a suitable servo into the chute and cut small notches (1) for the rudder horn (see figure 16 D) into the wing.
• Install a rudder horn on the landing flap and make suitable linkage rods. When the servo lever is in the rear position,
the landing flap must be retracted (see figure 16 E).
• When the servo lever is in the front position, the landing flap must be extended (see figure 16 F). The rear edge of
the landing flap must deflect by approx. 25 mm. When everything is correct, the servo can be glued into the chute.
• The servo cable (2) is clamped into the prepared groove and covered with a strip of adhesive tape.
Both landing flap servos can be connected to one receiver output with a V-cable. The required openings for
the plugs of the landing flap servos are already present in the wing connection.
