Suction:
The suction usually starts at an external supply container and ends at the metering
pump. A complete suction system consists of a suction pipe, a suction hose and a
suction connection.
The suction pipe sits in the supply container and draws in the medium there.
The suction hose sits between the suction pipe and the suction connection and directs
the medium to the metering station: either to the changeover valves on the suction
side or directly to the pump.
The pump draws in the medium at a certain diaphragm movement.
Important additional factors: The suction pipe signals the level in the supply container.
This enables automatic level monitoring to prevent the metering station from running
dry. When the fill level reaches a defined pre-warning level, the master controller can
send an alarm.
When the fill level reaches a defined empty signal level, the master controller can
trigger an automatic shutdown of the metering station.
n
Metering:
Metering is the task of the metering pump. When the pump sucks in the medium,
a vacuum is generated. The medium flows inside the pump into the compression
chamber of the pump head. During the subsequent pressure change, the pump meters
the medium and dispenses the metering quantity via a valve into the pressure line.
Important additional factors: The oval gear meter OMG
flow meter SMx detects different flow rates. This enables automatic flow monitoring
to immediately detect irregularities that could negatively impact the process. If, for
example, the flow rate deviates from the defined metering volume, the main controller
can trigger an automatic shutdown of the metering process.
n
Delivery:
Delivery begins at the metering station and ends at the customer's system for which
the metered medium is intended. A complete delivery system consists of the pressure-
side maintenance valve at the metering station, a metering hose (metering line) and
the metering valve at the injection unit of the customer's system.
The maintenance valve discharges the metered medium into the metering hose.
The metering hose is located between the maintenance valve and the metering valve
and directs the metered medium from the metering station to the injection point.
Important additional factors: By opening and closing, the valves at the pump head
regulate the flow of the medium. In addition, the pressure-side metering valve prevents
the backflow of medium from the customer's process via the metering line into the
metering station.
