7.6.1 Active preinfusion
We recommend using the active pre-infusion when operating in water tank mode. At the beginning
the pump builds up pressure for a predefined or adjusted "Active" time. However, before the pump
pressure reaches 9 bar, the pump interrupts the activity for a further predefined or adjusted "Passive"
time, giving the water the opportunity to completely soak the ground coffee and then continue the
extraction at 9 bar.
Example: "Active" = 4 seconds, "Passive" = 6 seconds
The brewing process starts with 4 seconds of pump activity. For the following 6 seconds, the solenoid
valve remains open, but the pump activity is interrupted. After the 6 seconds, pump activity resumes,
and the extraction continues at 9 bar.
7.6.2 Passive preinfusion
We recommend using passive pre-infusion when operating in permanent water mode. The main water
supply pressure is sufficient to infuse the ground coffee within a defined period of time. After the time
has elapsed, the pump starts to build up the desired brewing pressure. The active pre-infusion should be
set to 0 seconds.
Example: "Active" = OFF, „Passive" = 6 seconds
The brewing process begins when the brewing lever is actuated. The line pressure moistens the coffee
After 6 seconds, the pump starts to increase the brewing pressure to 9 bar.
It is not recommended to use passive pre-infusion without additional active pre-infusion when operating
in water tank mode. The pressure through the water tank is not sufficient to completely soak the ground
coffee. The result is uneven extraction. The pressure curve varies greatly depending on the setting. This
can affect the taste of the coffee.
