10.2. Pump delivery test (max) in conjunction with speed and pressure test
(delivery module without cooling circuit control valve, metering module
with fixed restrictor)
It is important to clearly identify the delivery module version fitted in the vehicle. This can be
seen from the software Identification in the diagnostic tester (Section 1.5.2).
Always heed the vehicle and system-specific information on ESI[tronic].
Attention:
Heed the safety instructions for handling AdBlue. Always drain the system before
opening the AdBlue circuit to avoid the uncontrolled escape of AdBlue. This test always
ends with termination of diagnosis. For further testing, the ignition is therefore to be
switched off and on again.
- Connect up the diagnostic tester/adapter module
(Section 8).
- Prepare the test metering module (Section 9) and
also connect the pressure gauge (0 986 610 510)
with the test pressure pipe Y-hose (0 986 610
523) to the inlet pipe.
- Attach the test metering module to the graduated
beaker (0.5 l) so as to permit metering into the
graduated beaker.
- If not yet done, connect the return of the test
metering module with the test pressure pipe (0
986 610 453) to the return pipe of the delivery
module/tank.
- Start metered quantity measurement. The first
measurement serves to bleed the system.
Note: If the test is not completed, check the
connections, switch the ignition off and on again and
re-start the test.
- Compare the delivery, speed and pressure values
to the set values.
Possible causes of trouble if the delivery rate is not attained: AdBlue tank empty, pre-
filter / main filter clogged, intake pipes crushed. To check, draw in AdBlue from a
separate vessel if applicable. If the speed level of the AdBlue delivery pump is in excess
of 2500 min-1 and / or the pressure is less than 485 kPa (4.85 bar), the pump may be
defective or worn. Replace or remove the delivery module, have it checked and if
necessary repaired.
Attention: The functional tests listed above for measuring the metered quantity may vary
for different vehicle manufacturers. The specifications, values and tolerances of the
vehicle manufacturer are definitive for correct assessment.
