10. Functional tests

10.1 Metered quantity measurement and spray pattern assessment

Always heed the vehicle and system-specific information on ESI[tronic].
Attention:
Heed the safety instructions for handling AdBlue.
Three metering points are used for metered quantity measurement by way of the diagnostic
tester. The metering time is 120 s for the large and medium quantities and 360 s for the small
quantity.
- Determine the tare weight of the three graduated beakers (0.5 l / 0.25 l / 0.1 l) on the scales
and note down.
Note:
The scales are switched off automatically after approx. 4 minutes. Use can therefore not be
made of the <TARE> function for metered quantity measurement.
- Connect up the diagnostic tester/adapter
module (Section 8).
- Remove the metering module and
prepare it for testing (Section 9).
Attention:
Never meter AdBlue into the
catalytic converter, as this would
destroy the catalytic converter.
- Perform <large quantity> metered
quantity measurement in line with the
instructions given by the diagnostic
tester. The metered quantity does not
have to be assessed, as the first
measurement serves to bleed the
system.
- Completely empty the graduated beaker
(0.5 l), re-attach the metering module and
secure it in position.
