The Solution
Due to high energy loss via excessive evaporation of
water, the temperature control will only work correctly, if
the kettle is closed correctly. For operation, always cover
the kettle by the appropriate lid set or filter system (see:
'Operation / Preparing the Appliance for Operation').
Descale the kettle in time (see: 'Care and Cleaning /
Descaling the Kettle'). Excessive deposits of lime could
damage the kettle.
At high altitude (e.g. on high mountains), the ambient
pressure is reduced, leading to a somewhat lower boiling
temperature. Therefore, the temperature for automatic
shut off (100°C) may not be approachable. Switch off
the kettle manually (see: 'Cancelling Operation'). Set a
lower temperature, before starting a program.
The temperature probe sticks out of the heating plate
approx. 1cm. Take care during cleaning to avoid damage.
Contact your vendor for examination and repair.

See below: 'Error Messages'.
Unplug the appliance and wait at least 30 minutes. Then
try again. If the problem persists, contact your vendor.
Leave the appliance cool down. Always unwind the power
cord completely, before operation to avoid overheating.
Check the power cord for any damage (e.g. discoloura-
tion, damage of the insulating sleeve, or deformation).
Do not operate the appliance again, with the power cord
damaged!
Check the power connection at the bottom of the kettle
and the power socket of the power base for moisture,
discolouration, distortion or corrosion (green, blue or
brown crusts). Do not use the appliance again, if the pins
are not smooth, dry, and clean. Do not attempt to clean
or repair the power connector! Contact an authorised ser-
vice centre for replacement and repair.

or e-mail: info@gastroback.de.
The following error messages may be shown at the display.
Error Message
Reason
E1
The set temperature is less
or equal than the actual
temperature in the kettle.
The Solution
Do not attempt to use the appliance, when the power
base or kettle are damaged in any way. Contact an
authorised service centre for replacement or repair.
Wait until the steeping time ran through and the count-
down of the steeping time reaches zero. Alternatively,
cancel the program by pressing the TEA button.
Cancel the program (press the TEA button) and unplug
the appliance. Wait for approx. 30 minutes. Then plug in
the appliance. The cantilever should move up now.
See also: 'Error Messages'.
The Solution
The actual temperature in the kettle must be at least 5°C
(9°F) lower than the set temperature. Press any button
for getting back to standby mode.
- Leave the kettle cool down a little, or
- slowly and carefully pour some cold water into the cen-
tre of the kettle, or
- increase the set temperature by 5°C (9°F).
