NOTE
For saving energy, you should not leave the keep warm function running uselessly.
Cancel the running program via the TEA button, if you do not need this function
any longer.

Increasing or Decreasing the Steeping Time during Steeping

WARNING
– Pusher plate, pusher, and tea infuser may get hot during
brewing! If required, protect you hands.
With manual operation (using the WATER function), you can move the tea infuser
in and out of the water at any time you like.
With automatic extraction (using the TEA button) it is quite easy to increase the stee-
ping time by immersing the tea infuser into the water again after steeping.
To decrease the steeping time, you need to cancel the running program via the
illuminated start/stop button TEA. The cantilever moves up in this case. If required,
grasp the pusher plate of the filter system and move the tea infuser manually.
NOTE
Please keep in mind, that there is no way to continue the program. Therefore, the
keep warm function does not start and the appliance returns to standby mode
immediately, showing the pre-programmed values of the recently used program
on the display. If you wish to keep your tea warm nevertheless, increase the tem-
perature by 5°C (9°F) and start the WATER function (see: 'Heating Clear Water').

MANUAL OPERATION

You can make your tea manually without any movement of the cantilever. In this
case, you lower the tea infuser into the water and lift it out after steeping manually.
This procedure may be useful, when you are trying out a new tea mixture, not know-
ing the appropriate steeping time.
WARNING
– The parts of the filter system may get hot during operation. Only
touch the pusher of the filter system by the top plate. If required, protect your hands.
1. Ensure that the keep warm function is activated (see: 'Preferences').
2. Prepare the filter system with the ingredients of your tea (see: 'Preparing the Filter
System').
3. Prepare the appliance for operation. Select the desired temperature (see: 'Pre-
paring the Appliance for Operation' and 'Selecting or Setting Up a Program').

4. Start the program via the WATER button. Wait until the set temperature is rea-
ched and the signal sounds. The keep warm function is started and the keep
warm time is counted down on the display, beginning with the maximum keep
warm time.
5. Grasp the pusher plate and push down the tea infuser into the water. If required,
you may push down and pull up the tea infuser for achieving a better extraction.
6. Wait for the tea to get the desired colour. The steeping time can be determined
via the time shown on the display. When steeping is finished, pull up the tea
infuser by the pusher plate until it sticks to the magnet holder.
NOTE
The filter system will not fall out of the kettle during pouring, when lid ring and filter
system are installed correctly.
7. Check the result. For this, take the kettle from the power base and pour a little
tea.
8. When the tea is too weak still, replace the kettle on the power base and push
the tea infuser back into the water again via the pusher plate. The time display
keeps running without interruption, while the kettle is removed from the power
base. Therefore, you can use the time display for determining the total steeping
time.
9. When your tea is done, you should remove the filter system and close the kettle
via the lid.
10. You may use the keep warm function just as usual (see: 'Properties of Your New
Tea Maker / Keep Warm Function'). However, if you do not need the appli-
ance further on, press the water button for cancelling the function and unplug
the appliance.
NOTE
Do not leave the appliance connected to the power supply uselessly.

HEATING CLEAR WATER

NOTE
After preparing tea within the kettle, you should clean the kettle thoroughly, before
heating water for any other purpose. This way, you avoid carrying over tea aromas
(see: 'Care and Cleaning'). This holds especially after preparing very aromatic types
of tea intermediately.
