Depending on the usage, you should clean the kettle immediately after use, to avoid
the build-up of stubborn residues that could influence the flavour and taste of your
tea and/or water unpleasantly.

CLEANING THE POWER BASE

CAUTION
– Always keep the power socket in the middle of the power
base completely dry. Do not spill any liquids onto the control panel or in the pillar
of the cantilever.
1. Cancel any running program (pressing the illuminated start/stop button TEA or
WATER). Remove the kettle from the power base and unplug the power base.
2. Wipe the power base and power cord with a slightly damp cloth, removing any
stains and splashes.
3. Thoroughly wipe dry, and leave the power base dry naturally for approx. 30
minutes, where it is out of reach of young children.

CLEANING THE KETTLE

CAUTION
– Do not pour water onto the exterior of the kettle. Do not place
or immerse the kettle in water. The temperature probe is protruding the heating plate.
Clean the interior of the kettle carefully, to avoid damaging the temperature probe.
4. Leave the kettle cool down to room temperature and remove the filter system, lid
and lid ring, before cleaning the kettle.
5. If required, clean the interior of the kettle using a soft nylon brush and lukewarm
dishwater. Then, rinse the interior of the kettle thoroughly with clear tap water.
Stubborn stains of tea may be removed carefully via a plastic pad, ensuring to
avoid any damage to the temperature probe. Do not use metal scouring pads!
6. Thoroughly, rinse the interior of the kettle with clear tap water.
NOTE
If stubborn residues of scale cover the heating plate and interior of the glass body,
the kettle needs descaling (see: 'Descaling the Kettle').
7. Remove any splashes from the exterior of the kettle via a slightly damp cloth. Always
ensure to keep the power connector in the power base of the kettle completely dry.
8. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth, and leave the kettle dry naturally for approx.
30 minutes, where it is out of reach of young children.

CLEANING THE FILTER SYSTEM, LID RING, LID, AND STAINLESS STEEL
COASTER
CAUTION
– Do not attempt to disassemble the infuser cover. Do not wash
the ingredients of your tea into the sink to avoid clogging the outlet pipe.
9. Remove the tea infuser from the infuser cover and empty the tea infuser. Dispose
of the used ingredients of your tea in domestic waste or on the compost heap.
10. Wash the filter system (tea infuser and Infuser cover with magnet holder and
pusher), lid set, and stainless steel bowl in warm dishwater via a soft nylon brush.
11. Ensure that the pusher rod of the filter system is smooth and clean. Stubborn
residues can be rubbed of via a cloth. Thoroughly rinse all parts with clear tap
water.
12. Wipe dry all parts. Thereafter, leave the parts of the appliance dry naturally for
approx. 30 minutes, where they are out of reach of young children.

DESCALING THE KETTLE

For descaling you may use plain white vinegar. However, we recommend to use the
GASTROBACK® Premium Descaler (Art.-No.: 98175). This descaler is containing
special additives for preserving the metal surfaces thus maintaining high performance
of GASTROBACK® appliances.
WARNING
– Do not breath-in any vapours escaping from descaling
agents to avoid injuries to your respiratory tracts. Always ensure good ventilation
during descaling.
1. When using the GASTROBACK® Premium Descaler, prepare 1500ml (1.5 litres)
of the descaling solution according to the instructions on the pack. Alternatively
mix 500ml white vinegar with 1000ml of water.
2. Fill the descaling solution into the kettle. Close the kettle via the lid ring and lid.
Simply leave the kettle rest for at least 1 hour.
3. To assist descaling, if the interior of the kettle is coated with large amounts of
scale: Ensure good ventilation, and keep the kettle closed via the lid set. Warm
up the solution with the lowest possible temperature setting (50 °C) by pres-
sing the WATER button (see: 'Operation / Heating Clear Water'). When the
appliance switches to keep warm and the appropriate acoustic signal is given,
cancel operation by pressing the WATER button again. With the lid still closed,
leave the solution cool down within the kettle for at least 1 hour.
4. Empty the kettle and rinse the lid, lid ring, and interior of the kettle with clear tap water.
