BEFORE FIRST USE

WARNING
– DO NOT let young children play with the appliance or any
part of it or the packaging! The kettle is made of glass and fragile. Always use
special care when handling glass parts. Even small splinters and shards could
cause severe injuries, when getting into your food or beverages. Thus, do not
use glass parts again, when there are any cracks or edges are chipped. Do not
pour cold water into the hot kettle. Always let the kettle cool down, before filling
it again. For operation, always unwind the power cord completely to avoid
hazard due to overheating, fire, and electric shock. Always unplug the appliance
before cleaning it, and when it is not in use.
CAUTION
– Do not place the kettle or power base in an automatic dish-
washer. Do not place or immerse the power base, power cord, or kettle in water
or other liquids or spill any liquids on the power base, power cord, or the exterior
of the kettle. Avoid moving the cantilever manually, because this results in exces-
sive load to the motor drive. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaners for
cleaning to avoid damage to the surfaces.
1. Unpack the appliance carefully. Check that no parts are damaged or missing
(see: 'Knowing Your New Tea Maker'). Carefully remove all packaging, ship-
ping materials, stickers, and promotional materials. However, DO NOT remove
the model label at the bottom of the power base.
2
Before first use and after an elongated period of storage, clean all parts of the
appliance (see: 'Care and Cleaning'). Rinse the interior of the kettle thoroughly
with clear tap water. Completely unwind the power cord and insert the power
cord into the cord groove at the bottom of the power base. Select a suitable
place for operating the appliance near a sufficient wall power outlet. Leave a
distance of at least 20 cm to the edge of the table or counter and to any other
object (see: 'General Safety Instructions').
3. Remove the kettle from the power base and fill the kettle with 1500ml ("1.5L
MAX WATER") of clear tap water. Close the kettle via the lid ring and lid and
place the kettle onto the power base (see: 'Operation / Preparing the Appliance
for Operation').
IMPORTANT - When connecting the appliance to the power supply, an initialisa-
tion is performed and the cantilever may be moved automatically. This movement
is required for ensuring correct operation of the motor drive. Thus, when plugging
in the appliance, there may be no foreign objects obstructing the movement of the
cantilever. Also, ensure that there are no stickers or promotion labels at the pillar.
However, for initialisation, it is not essential, whether the kettle is placed on the
power base and whether the filter system is installed or not.

4. Ensure, that there are no obstacles blocking the cantilever or pillar. Connect the
power plug directly to a suitable wall power outlet and wait until the display
illuminates.
5. Press the TEMP/TIME button to make the temperature flash on the display. Press
the selection button + until 100 is displayed.
6. Press the WATER button. The WATER button illuminates. Wait until the water
is boiling vigorously and the signal sounds (see: 'Operation / Heating Clear
Water').
7. Press the WATER button again. Thereafter discard the water and wait until the
kettle cooled down (mind. 15 minutes).
CAUTION
– Do not fill cold water into the kettle, while the kettle is still hot.
Always leave the kettle cool down until it is lukewarm at the maximum. Otherwise,
the glass could crack!
8. Rinse the kettle with clear water. Then, fill the kettle again with cold, fresh water.
Replace the lid and place the kettle onto the power base. Repeat the steps 6 to
8.
9 . Then rinse the kettle with clear tap water. The appliance is now ready for use.
NOTE
To avoid misunderstanding, we recommend to set up individual preferences,
before operating the kettle. Especially, you should select an appropriate language,
the temperature unit, and time format.
