power base connected to the power supply, when it is not in use. Do not leave the
appliance operate unattended, when intervention in the case of any danger or
hazard is impossible, or when young children or animals may get access to the
appliance! To avoid overheating, before operation, always fill at least 500ml ("0.5L
/ MIN") of clear drinking water into the kettle. Do not operate the appliance with
the water level below the minimum filling level (250ml; approx. 1cm above the
tip of the temperature probe). Do not fill in more than the maximum amount (1500ml;
"1.5L / MAX WATER"). If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may splash. Regularly
descale the kettle (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
IMPORTANT - For operation, always place the lid ring on top of the kettle. Then
close the kettle via the lid (heating water) or filter system (making tea). With the
kettle left open, the temperature control will not operate correctly, because of high
energy loss.
NOTE
Any program can be cancelled at any time (see: 'Cancelling Operation').

PREPARING THE FILTER SYSTEM

For automatic, program-controlled tea making, the filter system (tea infuser and
Infuser cover with magnet holder and pusher) must be used. Automatic steeping is
impossible with any other tea infuser system.
NOTE
Adapt the amount of tea leaves to your liking. We recommend to start with 5 to
7 g tea leaves (approx. 2 heaped teaspoons) for each 500ml of water. Please,
leave some free space within the tea infuser to allow swelling of the ingredients.
Hints for the correct dosage may be given on the tea pack or in specialized tea
shops. Place the tea infuser on a stable surface and fill the tea infuser with the
ingredients of your tea.
When using tea bags, pull out the thread and place the tea bags into the infuser.
You should activate the Auto Steep Function.
You may hang tea bags directly into the kettle via the thread. In this case, the filter
system is not required. We recommend to use the WATER function (see: 'Heating
Clear Water'), because automatic extraction is impossible with this method.
2. Close the tea infuser via the Infuser cover. Press the Infuser cover down until it
snaps into place securely. Ensure that the Infuser cover is not tilted, to avoid that
the tea Infuser could fall off during operation. The filter system is ready for use
now.

PREPARING THE APPLIANCE FOR OPERATION

NOTE
After preparing another type of tea, you should wash the interior of the kettle,
before operation. Otherwise, residues of flavour may influence your tea, especial-
ly when very aromatic types of tea have been made before (e.g. mint or fruit).
1. Completely unwind the power cord and place the power base on the designated
working place near an appropriate wall power outlet (see: 'General Safety Instruc-
tions' and 'Important Safeguards for Electrical Appliances'). Insert the power plug
into the power outlet. An acoustic signal sounds and the cantilever may move. Wait
until the display illuminates with the default settings („75°C 3:00 / GREEN").
2. Remove the kettle from the power base and remove the lid or filter system from
the kettle by pulling it upwards.
3
Ensure that the lid ring is placed correctly on the kettle without any gab bet-
ween the lid ring and kettle. If required, turn the lid ring until the pouring sieve
is placed at the spout of the kettle. Push the lid ring down without violence. Fill
the required amount of clear drinking water into the kettle. For operation, at least
fill in 500ml of clear drinking water ("0.5L / MIN"). If you wish to make tea,
do not fill in more than 1200ml ("1.2L / MAX TEA"). If you wish to heat clear
water, you may fill the kettle with up to 1500ml ("1.5L / MAX WATER").
NOTE
When filling in more than 1200ml for making tea, the ingredients of your tea will
not be kept above the water level until the water is heated and after steeping.
Therefore, your tea may get an undesired taste and flavour. However, some types
of herbs demand heating up slowly within the water. In this case, you may use
1400ml water for your tea and manually push the tea infuser down via the pusher
after inserting the filled filter system and before starting the appliance. Then remove
the filter system immediately after steeping.
IMPORTANT - Always keep the kettle level, when it is filled. During filling the kettle,
ensure not to spill water on the exterior of the kettle. If required, wipe dry the exte-
rior of the kettle, before placing the kettle onto the power base.
5. Heating Water: Close the kettle via the lid (see: 'Heating Clear Water').
6. Making Tea: When inserting the prepared filter system, hold the filter system by
the pusher rod to avoid that the tea infuser falls into the water (see: 'Preparing
the Filter System'). Insert the tea infuser into the kettle and press the magnet holder
into the lid ring. Ensure that the tea infuser is held by the magnet holder when
releasing the pusher rod.
