NOTE
When removing the kettle from the power base during heating, the program is
cancelled automatically. The appliance switches back to standby mode with the
recently used program selected. You can start the program again immediately by
simply pressing the TEA button again. However, after cancelling a tea program
check the values shown on the display, before starting the program again.
IMPORTANT - Avoid moving the cantilever manually. Ensure that the cantilever can
move up and down freely during the extraction.
15. Press the TEA button. The TEA button illuminates and the kettle starts heating.
The actual temperature within the kettle appears on the display with a rising
bar. When the set temperature is reached, an acoustic signal sounds and the
appliance lowers the tea infuser into the water automatically. You do not need
to do anything. Using automatic steeping (AUTO STEEP button is illuminated):
the cantilever moves the tea infuser in and out of the water repeatedly.
NOTE
You may cancel any running program at any time by simply pressing the illumina-
ted start/stop button (TEA or WATER). If required, the cantilever moves up immedi-
ately. The start/stop button gets dark and the appliance returns to standby mode.
WARNING
– When operating the appliance at high water temperature,
hot steam and condensate may escape from under the lid. This holds especially
when removing the filter system or lid. Additionally, the lid and filter system may
be hot. Only touch the lid and filter system by the handle or pusher plate and be
aware of hot steam and condensate, when removing the lid or filter system. If
required, protect your hands.
16. Wait until the signal sounds, indicating that the set steeping time elapsed. The
cantilever lifts the tea infuser out of the water and the magnet holder keeps the
tea infuser in the upper position.
Thereafter, "BASKET" is shown on the display. In any case (even with the keep warm
function deactivated) the tea will be kept warm for 5 minutes.
NOTE
If you wish to get your tea somewhat darker after steeping, with the cantilever
being rigid in the topmost position and "BASKET" on the display, you may immerse
the tea infuser manually for some additional seconds.

CAUTION
– Do not attempt to remove or replace the kettle, while the can-
tilever is moving. Wait, until the keep warm indicator is illuminated or "BASKET"
is shown on the display.
17. When "BASKET" is displayed, you should remove the kettle from the power
base and replace the filter system by the lid. When replacing the kettle within 5
minutes and with the keep warm function activated, the appliance enters normal
operation of the keep warm function (see: 'Properties of Your New Tea Maker
/ Keep Warm Function').
IMPORTANT - Ensure that the lid ring and lid are installed correctly on the kettle,
before pouring. Otherwise the lid set could fall.
NOTE
While the keep warm function is running, operation will not be cancelled,
when removing the kettle from the power base. Always remove the kettle for
removing the filter system and pouring. In fact, you should remove the filter system
always before pouring. The heating elements in the kettle cannot be operated wit-
hout the power base. With the kettle placed on the power base, the water will
be reheated and kept at the set temperature (max. 90°C, see: 'Properties of Your
New Tea Maker / Keep Warm Function').
IMPORTANT - If you wish to keep warm your tea after pouring, always ensure that
there is a sufficient amount of liquid left within the kettle (at least 250ml; approx.
1cm or half an inch above the tip of the temperature sensor). Otherwise, the tem-
perature control cannot operate correctly and overheating may occur. Remove the
kettle from the power base for filling your cups and glasses. If you wish to use the
keep warm function of the appliance, ensure that at least 250ml of liquid are left
in the kettle. If so, place the kettle onto the power base again. The keep warm
function keeps your tea at the appropriate temperature (max. 90°C/194°F, see:
'Keep Warm Function').
18. If you wish to switch off the appliance after operation, simply press the illumi-
nated start/stop button (in this case: the TEA button). The appliance returns to
standby mode immediately.
19. When leaving the appliance running to the maximum keep warm time, the appli-
ance switches back to standby mode automatically, and shuts off completely
(see: 'Properties of Your New Tea Maker / Automatic Shut-Off').
