4.1 KESSEL rainwater filter system 400
Place the KESSEL rainwater filter for free-standing set-up in the
for installation in an exposed drain pipe
position required. To guarantee optimum function, the rainwa-
ter filter has to be aligned with a spirit level. Connect the inlet,
the outlet to the cistern and the overflow to the sewer.
Note! In the case of heavy rain, the tank may become full under
certain circumstances. The tank attachment and connections to
the pipes must be able to withstand these loads. Cover and tank
must always be connected with the quick-clamping closure

When installing the rainwater filter, it is imperative to pay atten-
tion to the locally determined frost-free depth. To guarantee
smooth operation in winter, too, the inlet, outlet and overflow
pipes must be laid at a frost-free depth.
Unless otherwise specified by the authorities, the frost-free
depth is as a rule located at approx. 80 cm.

4. Installation and assembly

Please also take the required gradient of the drainpipe to
the filter and from the filter to the cistern into account when
determining the installation depth.
• Shorten the filter shaft to the required height if necessary (H1,

• Grease the lip seal
• Insert the attachment piece, adjust the height, shorten if ne-
cessary and fix in place using the clamping ring
• Ground slopes up to a maximum of 5° can be compensated
for with the continuously height-adjustable and inclinable
attachment piece.
