Help in case of malfunction

IMPORTANT! Danger of engine damage.
Operating the engine with the incorrect spark
plug or without a spark plug will result in serious
engine damage!
■
Always use the specified spark plug type.
■
Never try to start the engine without a spark
plug.

Cleaning the engine

WARNING! Danger of explosion and fire.
Foreign objects on the engine can cause the ap-
pliance to catch fire. Fire can lead to serious inju-
ries.
■
Remove combustible debris (e.g. grass,
leaves, grease) from the engine, especially
from the exhaust and cylinder area.
■
Check and clean the exhaust and cylinder ar-
ea regularly.
IMPORTANT! Danger from water. Penetrat-
ing water (ignition system, carburettor...) can lead
to malfunctions.
■
Do not spray the engine with water.
■
Clean the cooling system.
■
In order to prevent overheating, also clean
the internal cooling vanes and surfaces.

Maintenance intervals

Comply with the intervals measured in hours or
years, whichever occurs first. For use under more
demanding conditions, more frequent mainte-
nance is required.
Before every use:
■
Check the engine oil level
■
Inspect the air filter
Engine malfunctions
Engine does not start.

Remedy
■
Open the fuel cock.
■
Refuel with petrol.
■
Open the choke.
■
Check spark plugs and replace, if necessary.
■
Dry wet spark plugs and reinsert them.
■
Clean air filter.
■
Drain poor quality petrol which has been in the tank for a long
time, and replace with new, clean petrol.
After the first 20 operating hours or 1 month after
first use:
■
Change the oil
Every 50 operating hours or every 3 months:
■
Clean the air filter
Every 100 operating hours or every 6 months:
■
Change the oil
■
Clean the sludge trap on the petrol cock.
■
Clean the spark plug
Every 300 operating hours, or once a year:
■
Replace the air filter
■
Replace the spark plug
■
Set the idle speed
■
Set the valve clearance
■
Flush the fuel tank and fuel filter
In addition, every 300 operating hours:
■
Clean the cylinder head
In addition, every 2 years:
■
Replace the petrol hose
1) Clean more frequently if there are foreign bodies and high
levels of dust in the air.
2) Replace the paper element only.
3) This maintenance work may be carried out only by service
centres and authorised specialist companies.
8 HELP IN CASE OF MALFUNCTION
CAUTION! Risk of injury. Sharp-edged
and moving appliance parts can lead to injury.

Always wear protective gloves during mainte-
nance, care and cleaning work.
