5.2 Establishing the Connection to a PC

As an option, you can connect the PROFILER ST to a PC over
the RS-232 or USB interface. The interface is automatically
switched in the PROFILER ST.
If the PROFILER ST is connected to a PC over the USB interface,
the RS-232 interface is automatically disabled. Simultaneous
use of both interfaces is not possible.
5.2.1 Establishing a USB Connection
WARNING
Possible electric shock and equipment damage from con-
necting inappropriate peripherals!
The PROFILER ST is insulated by the power supply. Ensure that
no dangerous voltages or currents are induced by peripheral
devices in the PROFILER ST.
With a USB connection, communication between the
PROFILER ST and the PC takes place via a virtual COM interface.
To connect the PROFILER ST with a USB cable to your PC, you
need Windows 2000, Windows XP (32/64 bit), Windows Vista
(32/64 bit), Windows 7 (32/64 bit) or Windows 8 (32/64 bit).
Observe the following notes, regardless of the version of your
operating system:

Allow the drivers to install automatically from the operating
system.
Do not connect to Windows Update.
Continue installing the drivers despite the message about
the missing Windows-Logo-Test.
