4. Commissioning
4.1 Unpacking

Remove the packaging from all components
supplied.
4.2 Connection
1. Supply the FSA 500 with power by way of the power
supply unit.
2. Switch on the FSA 500.
3. Charge the battery.
 During charging: LED B lights (violet).
 Battery charged: LED B lights (blue).
4. Remove the power supply unit and power cord.
5. Connect the sensors at the measurement unit slots
provided (refer to Fig. 2).

The measurement lead with voltage divider, cur-
rent probes 30 A and 1000 A and adapter cable

connected as required.

4.3 Software installation

Pay attention to the system requirements before
starting installation. The FSA 500 can only be op-
erated by way of a DCU 130 or PC/Laptop with
FSA 500 CompacSoft [plus] software installed. The
FSA 7xx /FSA 050 CompacSoft [plus] software can-
not be installed on DCU 130 or on PC/laptop simul-
taneously.

For motor vehicle identification via customer data
or key number as well as for control unit diagnosis
with CAS[plus], the latest ESI[tronic] software (Info
type A and C) must be installed on the PC/Laptop
and released. In this case it is advisable to install the
ESI[tronic] software first. Control unit diagnosis is
possible only with a KTS module.
1. End all open applications.
2. Insert the "FSA 500CompacSoft[plus]" DVD in the
DVD drive.
3. Start "Windows Explorer".
4. Start 'D:\RBSETUP.EXE' (D = DVD drive letter).
 Set-up is started.
5. Heed and follow the instructions on the screen.

During software installation there must be a USB ca-
ble connection to the PC/laptop when prompted by
FSA 500. If the Would you like Windows to search
for new hardware dialogue box opens, select Yes,
this time only and then <Continue> to confirm. Next
select Install software automatically (Recommend-
ed) and then <Continue> to confirm.

The PC/Laptop may automatically be re-started during
installation of the FSA 500 CompacSoft[plus] software.
Installation of the FSA 500 CompacSoft [plus] software
continues after the re-start.
6. Re-start the PC/Laptop to successfully conclude installa-
tion of the FSA 500 CompacSoft [plus] software.

DSA starts automatically.
