14. Software Installation, Connection to Computer

There is a USB port (12) on the back of the weather station to read the measured data stored using the included
software and to display and process it on a computer.

a) Software Installation

Place the CD included in the delivery in the corresponding drive of your computer (at least Windows XP is required).
If the installation programme does not start automatically, open the Windows file manager and start the installation
programme on the CD (e.g. "Setup.exe".)
If the required current Java Runtime version is not recognised, the installation programme offers to install the right
version (included on the CD). Java is required for operating the software.
Then the "WeatherCapture" software is installed.

Newer versions of the software may have different procedures. In this case, please observe any
instructions in the CD.

b) PC Connection

Connect the USB socket (16) of the weather station to a free USB port of your computer with the included USB line.
Start the software, e.g. in Windows XP under "START", then "Programmes", then the "WeatherCapture" programme
in the "WeatherCapture" folder. Of course, you may also place the icon on the desktop for easier start.
Then the data is transferred from the weather station to the computer.

c) Software Short Description


The software includes a comprehensive help file that can be started through the menu bar on top.
After starting the software, all measured values are displayed in different windows. These windows can be
repositioned with the mouse and located anywhere on the software interface.
The menu bar can be used to select several functions, e.g. language and software settings.
In the display fields for "temperature", "wind", "humidity", "barometric pressure" and "rain", clicking the small,
rectangular field in the upper left of the display windows can activate the display of the respective value change history
(at first commissioning they are, of course, empty, because no measured values are present yet).

If the UV index is displayed in the software, you may switch it off through the software display settings
(the UV index is there because the software is also used for other weather stations).
