Time until high-voltage batteries are fully charged
1. Turn the key completely anticlockwise to position 1.
The emergency kill switch must not be removed.
2. Insert the charger plug into the intended socket on land.
The onboard computer carries out a self-test of all components. For this, the
high voltage batteries are switched on, and the touchscreen display changes
to "Charger unit", page 70.
The charging process starts automatically.

charged, it is necessary only to pull the charger plug out of the socket.
ADVICE
Although the high-voltage batteries of the DEEP BLUE system are protected
from fully discharging, a certain self-discharge is unavoidable.
In order to prevent damage to the high-voltage batteries, comply with the fol-
lowing instructions:
Top-up the charge of the high voltage batteries after every trip. If the high
voltage batteries are discharged to below 20 %, then they must be recharged
within 48 hours.
During extended storage, check the charge state of the
high voltage batteries once per month, by reading the charge state from the
main screen (Fig. 29). Recharge if level falls to 20% or below.
Charge the high voltage batteries only at the permitted ambient tempera-
tures, see Chapter 3.3.
If the sockets available for charging cannot provide the power required by the
charger unit, then the charging power can be lowered in the "Charger unit settings"
menu, until trouble-free charging is possible.
This extends the charging time required.
If the high-voltage batteries or the charger unit heat up significantly during the
charging process (e.g. at very high ambient temperature), or they disrupt the supply
voltage excessively, then the charger unit reduces the charge automatically. This also
extends the duration of charging.
The display "Time until high-voltage batteries are fully charged" indicates the ex-
pected remaining time until the high-voltage batteries are fully charged.
The present charge state can be checked at any time via the Battery screen display.
