15 Maintenance, Cleaning and Care

15.1 Maintenance

The function of the B 500/B 500-S power wheelchair should be checked prior to each use.
The items listed in the following table must be checked by the user at the indicated intervals.
Function or part
Tires
Air pressure (see side of tire)
Sufficient tread depth?
Batteries
Fluid and acid level (not required for gel batteries)
Lighting (option)
Is the housing intakt?
Electrical function?
Electronics
Control without error messages?
Battery charger shows no error messages at the LEDs?
Caster stabilization
Clean and grease entire component group
Should you encounter problems during maintenance, please contact your authorized dealer (see Section 4
"Service"). Tire changes and repairs are also carried out by your authorized dealer.

15.2 Cleaning and Care

When cleaning the B 500/B 500-S with water, be particularly careful with the electrical components. Please
observe the following instructions:
Note!
• The control panel, battery charger, armrest and seat upholstery must be cleaned only with a damp
piece of cloth and a mild cleansing solution.
• To disinfect the armrest and seat upholstery, use a standard disinfection agent such as Sagrotan.
• Use a dry brush to clean and maintain the backrest and seat cushion.
• Clean the wheels and the frame with a damp plastic brush.
• Avoid direct contact of water with the electronics, motor and batteries.
• Do not use scouring agents.
• Never use a water hose or high-pressure cleaning apparatus for cleaning the wheelchair.
• The wheelchair should be checked and serviced once every year by an authorized dealer.

16 Disposal

The B 500/B 500-S power wheelchair must be disposed of in accordance with disposal regulations of the
country in which it was in use.

Before doing any maintenance work on batteries, read the battery manufacturer's warnings!
