Installation instructions
Wait until the casing has hardened.
Take off the casing and carefully sand down the material covering the dummies of the battery with receptacle and
the electronics with receptacle until the edges are free (see fig. 21).
21
CAUTION
Risk of pinching
Overlapping sockets may cause the patient to suffer painful contusions when bending the knee. The E-MAG Act
ive reaches a maximum flexion angle of 140°. When cutting the socket contours, ensure that the patient can bend
the knee freely.
Cut the orthosis free. Remove all dummies and the Plastilin® moulding dough from the casing and orthosis. Sand
down the edges of the orthosis and the casing. Clamp the dummy for the electronics A (see fig. 22) into the cor
responding receptacle B and place the receptacle into the casing from the outside (see fig. 23).
22
Fasten the unit from the outside with PVC adhesive tape. Seal off the unit as much as possible by pulling the tape
tight.
NOTICE
Damage to the receptacle
Sealing resin inside the receptacle can damage the latter. Resin dissolves the material of the receptacle. Do not
let resin leak into the receptacle.
INFORMATION
Ensure that the cable connection points in the right direction: Knee joint cable towards the electronics, electron
ics cable towards the battery.
Turn the casing such that you can see the inside of the receptacle. Mix a small amount of sealing resin with a suffi
cient amount of hardener. Do not add too much hardener, since this could cause the resin to form bubbles during
hardening and make the connection brittle. Bond the receptacle to the casing. In order to do so, let the sealing res
in flow gently and slowly around the receptacle into the recess (see fig. 24).
