3. Structural requirements
The following structural requirements must be satisfied
by the operator prior to initial commissioning of the
EPS 708:

The area in which the EPS 708 will be operated
must be enclosed and covered. It must be ensured
that the room temperature cannot fall below 5°C
during cold periods.

Provision of a grounded, symmetrical 3-phase AC
network with 50/60 Hz mains frequency.

The rotating field direction must be clockwise.
$
Back-up fuse protection required:
400 V – 500 V = 35 amps
200 V – 240 V = 63 amps
$
The voltage must not fluctuate by more than
±10 %.
$
A connecting cable of adequate cross-section is
to be provided for connection of the EPS 708.
(e.g. Germany: 400 V– 500 V = 4 mm² and
200 V– 240 V = 10 mm²)
$
If a residual current operated circuit breaker
(rccb) is being used, it is advisable to employ
one of digital type as a mechanical rccb could
possibly be tripped on switching on the EPS 708.
If a digital residual current operated circuit
breaker is used, this must comply with the
following required specifications (similar to type
dRCM-40/4/003-U+ produced by EATON):
- Converter-proof
- Rated residual current IΔN = 30 mA
- Short-time delayed
- Surge current-proof 3 kA

Provision of a cooling water inlet and cooling water
drain for test oil cooling (EPS 708 without cold
water unit only).
$
The customer must provide a pressure reducer
(set to 450 kPa), a safety valve and a shut-off
valve in the cooling water inlet.A coolant flow
rate of min. 14 l/min. must be ensured, in order
to provide sufficient cooling. The differential
pressure in the EPS 708 can be up to 200 kPa
with a flow of 14 l/min.

The cooling water drain must be routed without
a shut-off into the sewage pipe by way of an oil
separator.
$
The cooling water temperature must not exceed
17 °C.
$
A water hose for connection to the cooling water
inlet and return. Connection to the EPS 708 is by
way of G½" hose unions.

The workshop floor must be solid and level.
R
Appropriate noise protection measures are to be
taken.
R
An extraction system must be provided.
