Messages
Error and warning messages appear on the LCD under
the following conditions. Please take the remedial
actions shown next to the message to correct the
condition.
Error Messages
When a problem occurs, the ALARM lamp on the front
panel lights orange, and an error message appears on the
LCD.
Message Description and Remedy
INSERT RIBBON The Ink Ribbon Cartridge is not
installed.
tInstall the Cartridge (page 10).
SET PAPER • Out of paper.
RIBBON REMAIN nnn
tLoad more paper (page 11).
• The Paper Supply Tray is not
installed.
tInstall the Tray (page 11).
• If the remaining ribbon number is 0,
also replace the ink ribbon
(page 10).
INSERT RIBBON The Ink Ribbon Cartridge and paper
SET PAPER are not loaded.
tInstall the Cartridge and paper
(pages 10, 11).
REMOVE PRINTS Too much paper has accumulated at
the output tray.
tRemove the accumulated prints.
REMOVE PAPER Paper has jammed at the Paper Supply
TRAY Tray.
tClear the jammed paper (page 27).
CHECK RIBBON nn • The ribbon is broken.
tRepair with cellophane tape
(page 11).
• An incompatible Ink Ribbon
Cartridge is installed.*
tInstall a compatible Cartridge
(page 10).
• The ink ribbon is exhausted.
tInstall a new ink ribbon
(page 10).
PAPER JAMMING nn A paper jam is present in the printer.
tClear the jammed paper (page 27).
END OF RIBBON The ink ribbon is exhausted.
tInstall a new ink ribbon
(page 10).
MECHA TROUBLE nn • The Ink Ribbon Cartridge is not

installed properly.
tReinstall the Cartridge (page 10).
