About this Manual

This section provides an overview of each chapter, and
describes the notational conventions used in this
manual.
Introduction
In addition to this chapter overview and the notational
conventions, this chapter describes the printer features
and important issues with which you should be familiar
before using the printer. Also, the part names and printer
functions required for operation are described.
Preparation
This chapter describes assembly and connection of
accessories, and SCSI DIP switch settings required for
first-time installation. These preparatory procedures
need be performed only when installing the printer, and
as occasion demands.
Operation
This chapter describes specific printer settings and
adjustments such as ribbon cassette and paper loading,
and printer operating procedures such as print quantity,
color adjustments and quality selection that may be
needed before actual printing, and after the preparations
of the previous chapter.
Miscellaneous
Describes technical details such as specifications and
troubleshooting procedures that can be performed by the
user if a problem occurs.

The UP-D50 Digital Color Printer is a dye sublimation
thermal transfer printer providing high quality, high
resolution (282 dpi) and high speed printing of computer
image data on A5-size paper in full color (256
gradations and 16.7 million colors).
