bsa bottom bracket: Check the crankset for side-to-side play by rocking the crank arms
back and forth away from the frame. If the crank moves, remove the drive side crankarm and
slide a hardened steel washer over the bottom bracket spindle against the wave spring.
Re-install the crankarm (step 9) and check for play. Repeat this procedure until there is no
side to side play in the crankset.

A maximum of 3 hardened steel washers can be installed.
italian bottom bracket: Check the crankset for side-to-side play by rocking the crank
arms back and forth away from the frame. If the crank moves, remove the drive side arm and
place an additional steel washer against the bearing. Repeat this procedure until there is no
side to side play in the crankset.

A maximum of 3 hardened steel washers can be installed.
Check the crank bolt and chainring bolts after the first 50-100 km of use to ensure they have not
come loose. Check them every six months to ensure proper torque is maintained.

Grease pedal threads, and torque the pedals to the crank arms to
31 - 34 N•m (274 - 301 in-lb).
