The pelvic tube is important for stability and must be mounted for the following working steps (see chap-
ter 2.3, Fig. 8). Position the sitting joint (S) at the anatomical hip rotation point (see chapter 2.4, page 10).

2.2 Construction and Effects
When walking with the orthosis, the movements
are transferred reciprocally; for this purpose the
two hip joints are functionally coupled to each
other via a push-pull-cable (Fig. 3, item 1.2). The
hip joints consisting of an upper joint section (a),
middle joint section (b), and the lower joint sec-
tion (c), which together function as a complex
joint mechanism and are adjusted accordingly.
The two hip joints are connected by a lightweight
alloy pelvic tube (Fig. 3. item 2). The selected ma-
terials and construction details ensure strength
and safety.
The RGO Hip Joint System is delivered mostly
preassembled.
INFORMATION
To ensure safe function of the joint mechanism, the
hip joints must not be disassembled. The push and
pull cable may not be adjusted or loosened under
any circumstances.
The biaxial joint system consists of a sitting joint S
and a walking joint G. The walking joint is locked
when the patient is sitting. The walking joint is in-
clined by 35° in its axis, resulting in a 15° inward
and 15° outward rotation. This results in 15° of
pelvic rotation when the legs are positioned for
walking straight ahead. The joint system can be
adjusted to an actual pelvic width of approx 200
mm to approx. 380 mm by selecting correspondi-
ng pelvic tubes. The torso bars (Fig. 3, item 1.3)
can be inclined by up to 10° ventrally to take an
abducted hip position into account (see page 11,
Fig. 18). The individually shaped pelvic module
(fabricated of lamination resin or thermoplastic
material, for example) is mounted between the
torso bars. The components of the leg orthosis
are attached rigidly to the Hip Joint System with
the corresponding thigh bars.
