together. Fit the shaft and the drum, push the shaft right
through, secure it with glue, and attach the handwheel 64 to it.
Cut out the die-cut bow platform 65 and glue it to the deck in
the position shown on the plan.
Assemble the toolbox from parts 66 - 69 as shown, and apply
a piece of d-c-fix 70 to the toolbox lid 69.
Sand the completed toolbox and glue it to the deck in the posi-
tion shown on the plan.
Cut out the vacuum-moulded afterdeck hatch 71, trim it to fit on
the after deck and glue it in place. Apply the film 72 to the hatch
cover. Glue the bollards 73 to the bow platform and the deck.
Anchor gear:
The anchor gear is assembled from parts 74 - 82.
Trim the anchor winch base 74 to follow the camber of the deck
(see also the view "Anchor winch").
Glue the chain pulley 75 and the capstan head 76 to the anchor
winch base.
Drill two 4 mm Ø holes in the deck for the chain hawses 77, and
a 6 mm Ø hole in the hull for the anchor hawse 78. Glue parts
77 and 78 in the holes.
Drill a 1 mm Ø hole in the chain stopper 79 for the handcrank
80. Bend the handcrank to the shape shown in the plan view, fit
it in the chain stopper and glue the parts together. Temporarily
thread the anchor chain 81 through the slot in the chain stop-
per; if the slot turns out to be too small, open it up slightly.
The base of the chain stopper should now be sanded to follow
the camber of the deck. Glue the completed anchor winch and
chain stopper to the deck in the positions shown on the plan.
Thread the anchor chain through the chain stopper and wrap it
round the capstan head. Thread the chain through the chain
hawses and secure it with a drop of cyano.
Shorten the shaft of the Hall anchor 82 so that it fits complete-
ly in the anchor hawse 78, then glue the anchor in place. Ensure
that you apply sufficient adhesive to seal the hawses comple-
tely when gluing the chain and the anchor in place, otherwise
water could get inside the hull by this route.
Deck superstructure
Use cyano for all glued joints in this stage unless stated other-
wise.
Now the vacuum-moulded engine room 83, the wheelhouse 86
and the two-part funnel 88 can be trimmed along the marked
lines, as shown on the plan, and the edges sanded smooth. Cut
the holes in the engine room and the wheelhouse for the por-
tholes, and cut out the window openings. It is best to cut the
window openings undersize initially, then trim them to final out-
line using flat and square files.
Drill holes at the marked points in the die-cut bridge deck 84,
and glue it to the engine room with the edges flush, as shown
on the plan. Using a modelling knife, cut out the shape of the
internal opening in the roof of the engine room, working along
the outline of the bridge deck. The holes in the bridge deck for
the railing stanchions can now be continued into the engine
room. Trim the navigation deck 85 to fit inside the wheelhouse
86.

Measure the distance from the side, front and rear edges of the
wheelhouse to the outside of the navigation deck, and compa-
re these values with the side elevation on the plan. Position the
wheelhouse accurately, then carefully invert the wheelhouse
and navigation deck and mark the position of the navigation
deck on the inside using a felt-tip pen.
Now hold the navigation deck and the wheelhouse together,
and mark the position of the holes for the railing stanchions
using a thin pin or a piece of steel wire with a pointed tip.
Remove the navigation deck and drill holes at the marked
points. The navigation deck can now be glued in the wheelhou-
se after lining it up with the felt-tip marks. You may find it neces-
sary to adjust the openings in the bulwark slightly.
Cut out the five glazing panels 87 to form the wheelhouse win-
dows and glue them to the inside of the wheelhouse behind the
window openings using a little contact cement. Ensure that no
glue is squeezed out onto the clear panels, as this will leave
unsightly marks.
Glue the wheelhouse in place as shown on the plan, with its for-
ward edge flush with the front edge of the bridge deck (see plan
view).
Cut out the two funnel half-shells 88 and sand the joint faces
flat. Place them together with the edges flush, and apply three
or four drops of cyano along the joint. Let the glue set hard,
then run more cyano round the seam to complete the joint.
Trim the funnel to fit against the bridge deck and the wheel-
house, but do not glue it at this stage. It should only be instal-
led permanently when the mast has been completed and glued
in place.
Monitor platform, radar platform, radar antenna
Prepare the monitor platform 89, the radar platform 91 and the
radar mount 93 and trim them to fit snugly against the funnel.
This is done by measuring the distance between the platforms
and the navigation deck from the plan; place the funnel on the
deck superstructure and mark the positions on it.
Glue the monitor platform 89 and the monitor strut 90 to the
funnel. Drill a 6 mm Ø hole below the monitor strut for the moni-
tor hose. Glue the radar platform 91 to the strut 92, and the
radar mount 93 to the strut 94, aligning them with the marked
points. Glue the radar plinth 95 to the radar mount, and the
radar antenna 96 to the radar plinth.
Apply glue to the monitor tube 97 and push it into the monitor
column 98; it should project on the underside by about 5 mm.
Glue the monitor nozzle 99 in the monitor tube as shown on the
plan.
Temporarily place the completed monitor on the monitor plat-
form and push the hose 100 onto the projecting end of the tube
97. Note that it must be possible to deploy the hose neatly
along the strut 90. If this is not the case, file out the hole in the
platform slightly. Glue the monitor to the platform, push the
hose onto the tube end and run it down through the hole in the
funnel. Glue the hose to the strut 90. Attach the handwheels
101 as shown on the plan.
