5.
If the resistance is under 150 Ω a signal sound, which indicates the
component or circuitry is continuous, can be heard and the meas-
ured resistance value is displayed.

4.6 Capacitance Measurement

Please Notice!
Avoid contact with the bare terminals of a capacitor (electric stroke!
Risk of injury). Discharge capacitors before measuring, stored
residual voltage may destroy the unit. Do not discharge the con-
denser by shortening it out; rather bridge the terminals with a 100
kΩ resistor.
In this function, never connect the probes to a power source, this
may destroy the unit.
Procedure for measuring capacitors
1.
Connect the red probe to the V;
black probe to the COM input (12).
2.
Set the rotary function switch (10) to "
position capacitances from 40 nF to 100 µF can be measured. The
unit is now in the automatic resistance measuring mode. Press
"Mode" (4) three times to get to the automatic capacitance meas-
urement mode. This is confirmed by "nF" being displayed.
3.
Now connect the probes to the capacitor to be measured read the
value from the display.
4.
These measurements can only be undertaken in the automatic
mode.
For measuring higher capacitances, use the two other switch settings
of the rotary function switch (10). Either use the setting "400 µF" for
measuring up to 400 µF or use the setting "2000 µFx10" for measuring
up to 20 000 µF. Additionally, connect the red probe to the "µA; mA;
µF" input (6). In the setting "2000 µFx10" the measured value is
displayed in "x10µF", this value must be multiplied with 10 to calculate
the actual value.
