Never connect the probes to a power source when conducting
resistance measurements; this may destroy the unit.
To avoid incorrect results, make sure capacitors are discharged
before measurements are taken. This is because resistance meas-
urements are based on a comparison between a reference voltage
and a known reference resistance value.
Procedure
1. Connect the red measuring probe to the V;
(11) and the black probe to the COM input (12).
2. Set the rotary function switch (10) to "
now set to the resistance measurement mode and the MΩ - range
is displayed.
3. Now connect the measuring probes to the resistor to be measured.
4. The measured value is now displayed in the LC display in Ω, kΩ or
MΩ. To switch into the manual mode, press "Range" (3) and "Auto"
turns off on the display. After that, repeatedly press "Range" until
the desired measuring range is displayed. When shifting through
the ranges, the decimal point shifts in the display corresponding to
the corresponding range.
5. To return to the automatic mode, press and hold "Range" for 2
seconds. "Auto" is displayed to the upper left of the display to indi-
cate the automatic mode.
Hints:
In the automatic measuring range selection mode it may take a few
seconds until a stable measurement value is displayed.
When measuring small resistances (200 Ω range) the accuracy of
the measurement can be adversely influenced by the inherent
resistance of the measurement cables. One way of determining the
inherent resistance of the cables is shortening them out by connect-
ing the probes. The displayed resistance value is the inherent
resistance of the cables, which must be deducted from the meas-
ured result to achieve a correct final result.
