→ Should the orthosis come into contact with salt water, immediately clean it with a cloth
moistened with fresh water and let it dry. The orthosis must then be sent to an authorised
Ottobock Service Centre for inspection. Your CPO is the contact person.
CAUTION
Mechanical overload caused by mechanical influences or loads from the outside
Falling or skin irritation may result, caused by:
Malfunction of the orthosis due to short circuits in the electronics and battery.
Breakage of load-bearing components.
Damage to the battery.
Hydraulic unit defects with associated leakage of liquid.
→ Do not subject the system components to mechanical vibration or impacts.

4.2.7 Notes on the Safety Modes

CAUTION
Safety signal occurs (ongoing beep signal)
The safety signal indicates an orthosis error.
This may lead to falling caused by:
Altered damping behaviour of the orthosis.
→ Discontinue using the orthosis if the safety signal is emitted.
→ The orthosis must then be sent to an authorised Ottobock Service Centre for inspection.
Your CPO is the contact person.

4.2.8 Notes on the Movement Types

CAUTION
First step from a standing position with the orthosis leg set back
This may lead to falling caused by:
Extended knee joint and toe load; the orthosis may switch to the swing phase (no damping).
→ Always lead with the sound leg when taking the first step from a standing position.
CAUTION
Walking down stairs or ramps with elevated flexion resistance
This may lead to falling caused by:
Unexpected, high stance phase damping during the transition from a level surface to the first
step of a staircase or when negotiating a ramp.
→ When walking up stairs, always use the handrail and place the full surface of the foot onto
the step.
→ Before taking the first step onto stairs or a ramp, pause briefly and verify switching from
elevated flexion resistance to normal stance phase damping. The time until the switching
takes place is configured by the CPO. It is normally less than one second.
→ Particular caution is required when carrying children down stairs or ramps.
