Disruption of blood circulation to the skin in the area of the closures.
→ Do not over tighten the closures when putting on the orthosis.
CAUTION
Volume fluctuations of the leg or problems with the fit of the orthosis
This can lead to injuries, friction and local pressure caused by:
Improper fit (too tight/too loose) of the orthosis shells.
→ Sensory disturbances and skin damage require special attention in regard to the fit of the
orthosis. Check skin in the affected area daily.
→ Consult a doctor or CPO in case of any signs of skin damage, even if they are only minor.
→ If the improper fit is the result of weight gain or loss, have new orthosis shells fabricated
based on a new plaster cast.
CAUTION
Using the orthosis with incorrect heel height of the shoe
In certain cases, this can lead to falling caused by:
Altered swing phase triggering behaviour due to incorrect heel height.
→ Only use the orthosis with shoes that have the heel height specified at the initial fitting.
4.2.5 Information – proximity to certain areas
CAUTION
Proximity to sources of strong magnetic or electrical interference
This may lead to falling caused by:
Malfunctioning of the orthosis.
→ Avoid proximity to sources of strong magnetic or electrical interference (such as high-tension
power lines, transmitters, transformers, computer tomography,...).
CAUTION
Exposure to high temperatures
This may lead to falling caused by:
Malfunctioning of the orthosis.
Breakage of load-bearing components.
→ Avoid exposure to extremely high temperatures (allowable temperature range see Page 56).

4.2.6 Information on Use

CAUTION
Penetration of dirt and humidity into the system components
Falling or skin irritation may result, caused by:
Malfunction of the orthosis due to short circuits in the electronics and battery.
Breakage of load-bearing components.
Hydraulic unit defects with associated leakage of liquid.
→ Ensure that neither solid particles nor liquids can penetrate the system components.
→ Should the orthosis come into contact with liquids, allow the components to dry. The orthos
is must then be sent to an authorised Ottobock Service Centre for inspection. Your CPO is
the contact person.
