Closing biosafety systems

In order to guarantee that it is sealed, the lid to the biosafety system has to be firmly closed.
In order to prevent the packing ring from twisting when opening and closing the cover, the packing ring must
be lightly rubbed with talcum powder or a rubber care product.
If the hanger of a biosafety system is used without the lid, the packing ring must be removed from the hanger
in order to prevent the packing ring from being damaged during the centrifugation run. Damaged packing rings
must not be used to seal the biosafety system.
For further details of available biosafety systems see chapter "Anhang/Appendix, Rotoren und Zubehör/Rotors
and accessories". If in doubt, you should obtain relevant information from the manufacturer.
Lid with screw top and hole in turning handle:

Insert the supplied key into the hole in the handle and close the lid firmly by turning the key in
a clockwise direction.
Lid with screw top:

Close the lid firmly by hand by turning in clockwise direction.
Lid with clamp and tension lock:

 Swivel the clamp in the " open " (a) position. The arrows of the " open " label must be pointing downwards
so that the text "open" is legible.

Place the lid on the hanger such that the two pins of the lid are in the two openings of the clamp (c).
 Swivel the clamp to the opposite side of the hanger to the " close " (b) position. The arrows of the " close "
must be pointing downwards so that the text "close" is legible.
The clamp must lie on the hanger so that it can swing out during the centrifugation run.

If the clamp is swivelled into position (d), the bio-safety system can be carried by the clamp.
The leak-tightness of the bio-safety system is also ensured in the carry position.
During transportation, do not swing the bio-safety system back and forth, since otherwise, leak-tightness
can no longer be guaranteed.

To make handling easier when inserting and removing the hanger, swivel the clamp to position (d) and hold onto
the hanger by the clamp.

Lid with clip lock:

Put the lid on the hanger and push down both clamps until they are underneath
the loops on the hanger.

Fold down both clamps as far as they can go. The clamps have to lie flat against
the hanger.
