Buckling the child in

- Open the child safety seat buckle (Fig. B, No. 23) by pressing on the red release button (Fig. B, No. 22).
- Slacken the belt (see 5.2).
- Clamp the locking pieces (Fig. B, No. 20) into the locking piece holder at the side (Fig. B, No. 17).
- Place the crotch piece (Fig. B, No. 21) and the buckle (Fig. B, No. 23) to face forwards.
- Place the child in the safety seat.
- Pass the shoulder belts (Fig. B, No. 33) over the child's shoulders; the belts must not be twisted during this process.
- Fit (Fig. F) both locking pieces (Fig. B, No. 20) together and push them (Fig. G), into the buckle (Fig. B, No. 23); there
must be an audible "click".
- Tighten the belt to the point (see 5.3) where it is a snug fit on the child's body.

Function of the buckle

The function of the buckle is basically to contribute to safety.
Buckle malfunctions can generally be attributed to dirt.
Faulty operation
The locking pieces do not
engage with a distinct "click".
Pressing
the
red
button
ejects
the
pieces slowly.
Pushing the locking pieces in
is slow (damped).
The locking pieces no longer
engage (they come out again).
Considerable force is required
to open the buckle.
It is no longer possible to
engage the locking pieces in
the buckle.

Checklist for correct securing of the child

CAUTION!
Incorrect securing of the child's safety seat can endanger the health, or put at risk, the lives, of all occupants
of the vehicle. For this reason, carry out the following checks for your child's safety and that of the other
occupants of the vehicle carefully.
To ensure your child's safety, check that
- the child seat belt is a snug fit, without unduly restricting the child,
- the shoulder belts are properly fitted (see 5.1),
- the shoulder pads are correctly placed on the child's body,
- the belts are not twisted,
- the locking pieces have engaged in the buckle.
Repair measures
Remove the crotch belt (Fig. B, No. 24), wash out the buckle (Fig. B, No. 23) and refit
the crotch belt (Fig. B, No. 24)
- Open the buckle (Fig. B, No. 23) by pressing on the red release button (Fig. B,
release
No. 22).

- Slacken the belt (see 5.2).
- Open and slacken the crotch pad restraint (Fig. B, No. 21).
- Bring the seat shell (Fig. A, No. 14) to the horizontal position (see 7).
- Grip the bottom of the seat shell and find the safety clip (Fig. B, No. 30) on the crotch
belt (Fig. B).
- Push the locking clip (Fig. B, No. 30) off the crotch belt (Fig. B, No. 24) obliquely
through the belt eyelet (Fig. B, No. 31).
- Soak the buckle (Fig. B, No. 23) in warm water for about 1 hour (use washing-up
liquid if necessary). Then rinse the buckle out and leave to dry well.
- Push the locking clip (Fig. B, No. 30) off the crotch belt (Fig. B, No. 24) obliquely from
top to bottom through the belt eyelet (Fig. B, No. 31) in the housing and into the
seat shell.
- Check the fastening by pulling strongly on the crotch belt.
- Thread the crotch pad restraint (Fig. B, No. 21) into the crotch belt (Fig. B, No. 24)
and lock into place.
Open the buckle (Fig. B, No. 23) by pressing on the red release button (Fig. B, No. 22).
