Possible Reason
Coffee basket has not been properly
cleaned. Residual grinds from previ-
ous use.
The minimum carafe amount is 2
cups, while the maximum is the
number of cups of water in the
water tank (up to 12 cups).
Carafe was not completely empty
before brewing.
Water was poured into the water
tank after starting the brew cycle.
The coffee basket is clogged.
Not enough beans in the bean hop-
per.
Bean hopper and/or grinder are
blocked.
Dark and oily types of beans could
stick to the interior of the bean
hopper.
The bean hopper is overfilled; the
grinder is clogged.
The STRENGTH setting must be
adjusted.
The Solution
Open the lid of the coffee basket.
Press the drip stop (hemisphere at
the lower side of the lid) to open the
valve. Rinse the drip stop to remove
all residues of coffee grinds. Wash
and dry the coffee basket thorough-
ly, taking particular care to rinse
the chute area. Ensure there are no
grinds in the coffee basket, before
lining the coffee basket with the
gold tone or paper filter.
Press the flip-top water tank lid to
open. Pour the desired amount of
cold, preferably filter water.
Always ensure the carafe is com-
pletely empty before brewing.
Only fill the water tank, BEFORE
starting the brew cycle.
CAUTION: Do not open the swing-out
door during operation!
Unplug and wait 10 minutes to let
the coffee brewer cool down. Then
remove and clean the coffee basket.

and Gold Tone Filter‹.

advice to keep the been hopper full.
See: ›Cleaning the Burrs and Coffee
Grinds Chute‹.
First unplug! Then, gently push

beans and stir the remaining beans.
