Problem
Coffee grinds in coffee.
Coffee basket overflows.
Possible Reason
You are using the gold tone filter.
Coffee basket has not been properly
cleaned. Residual grinds from previ-
ous use.
The coffee basket is clogged due to
a number of reasons.
In carafe mode: the carafe is not
inserted properly. Thus, the drip
stop closed the outlet of the coffee
basket.
The Solution
The gold tone filter will allow some
fine coffee grinds to fall into the
coffee. This is normal. Use a paper
filter, if you wish to eliminate all
grinds.
After each use, wash the coffee
basket, taking particular care to rin-
se the chute area. Dry thoroughly
(especially the chute area). Ensure
there are no grinds in the coffee bas-
ket, before lining the coffee basket
with the gold tone or paper filter.

• If using pre-ground coffee,
ensure it is a drip coffee grind and
not too fine. Never use Espresso
grind. The maximum capacity for
pre-ground coffee is 12 level table-
spoons.
• Check that the coffee basket
is lined with only one filter (suitable
paper filter OR gold tone filter). Visit
www.gastroback.de or call your ven-
dor to purchase suitable paper filters.
Do not use the gold tone filter and
the paper filter in combination.
• Check that the gold tone filter
mesh is clear and unclogged.
• Clean the coffee grinds chute.

• Grinder is set too fine, adjust
coarser. See: ›Adjusting the Grinder‹.
Ensure to insert the carafe properly
with the carafe lid firmly in place.
