full (225 g at maximum) to ensure that there are sufficient beans. However,
never overfill the bean hopper as this may result in the grinder jamming.
Close the bean hopper with the hopper lid. Do not operate the appliance without
the hopper lid in place.
Note:
For easy removal, transfer and storage of beans, the bean hopper can be
removed by turning the locking knob counter-clockwise in the direction of the
UNLOCK arrow. If you have removed the bean hopper, ensure it is securely
reassembled back onto the coffee brewer for operation. The safety interlock sys-
tem will prevent operation, if the bean hopper is incorrectly assembled. The LCD
screen will flash 'LOCK BEAN HOPPER' until the bean hopper is locked.
2. Prepare the coffee basket.
For best results, we recommend pre-heating the coffee basket by rinsing it under
hot tap water. Dry the coffee basket thoroughly, taking particular care to com-
pletely dry the chute area. Line the coffee basket with either the provided gold
tone filter or a sufficient paper filter.
Important:
Never use two filters at the same time to avoid overflow.
a)
Using the provided gold tone filter: Ensure that the handle is positioned
towards the hinge area of the coffee basket. Otherwise the handle may inter-
fere with the flow of ground coffee into the gold tone filter.

Note:
The gold tone filter will allow some fine coffee grounds to fall into the coffee. This
will appear as sediment in the cup or carafe. This is normal. Only use the gold
tone filter provided because other long-life filters may cause the coffee brewer to
overflow.
b)
Using a paper filter: It is best to use Gastroback Art.-No. 98129 (Ø 85/215
mm). Ensure that the paper filter is completely open and touching the side
walls and bottom of the coffee basket.
