Statutory Warranty and Guarantee Claim
*Explanation of statutory warranty
The manufacturer grants a 24-month warranty (another word for this: liability for
defects) on new goods (§439 and 476 of the German Civil Code).
The warranty covers defects that the product already had at the time of
purchase. If you discover a defect, you can demand that the manufacturer repair
or otherwise improve the product.
If the seller is of the opinion that the defect only arose after the purchase, the
buyer must prove this within the first six months. After six months, the burden of
proof is reversed. The buyer must prove the defect already existed at the time of
purchase.
*Explanation of guarantee
The guarantee is a voluntary service provided by the manufacturer (manufacturer's
guarantee). The duration and conditions are freely determined by the manufacturer.
