Protection against electrical hazards
Use the device only in a clean environment protected against the effects of moisture. Do
not use the unit in conditions of increased humidity (rain/snow). Penetrating wetness can
cause electric shocks and damage to the device.
Welding equipment that can provide alternating DC or AC current must be marked with "S"
according to EN-60974-1 and BGI 534.
Use insulating pads against contact with electrically conductive parts or damp floors. Wear
footwear with rubber soles and dry, undamaged work clothing.
Avoid the destruction of electrical protective conductors by vagrant currents. Therefore,
connect the welding current return line (ground cable) directly to the workpiece or to the
workpiece support provided for this purpose, such as a welding table or welding grid.
Ensure proper contact transmission by removing rust or paint from the workpiece before
starting work. During welding breaks, place the welding torch on an insulated support or
hang it up so that it does not touch the workpiece or its support. In case of longer work
interruptions, the device must be switched off and, if necessary, the gas supply must be
closed. Always disconnect the power plug during maintenance work or repairs (see BGR
500).
Users with pacemakers should consult their physician before use to determine whether the
electromagnetic radiation they encounter is dangerous to them.
Protection against mechanical hazards
Protective gas cylinders must always be secured against falling over with a suitable holder
(chain or tension belt). Depending on the type of equipment, it may or may not be possible
to attach the cylinder to the equipment. For smaller inverter welding units, the use of
welding trolleys has therefore proven to be effective, on which the unit, gas cylinder and
other accessories can be safely stowed. Do not underestimate the weight of the welding
unit! Never move the unit over people, be careful when setting the unit down.
Never bring the torch gun close to your face. Wire flying out can cause serious injury if the
torch switch is accidentally actuated.
Protection against fumes and gases
Use the unit only in well-ventilated work areas. If adequate ventilation is not sufficient,
install an exhaust system and wear a respirator if necessary. Ventilation measures must be
applied in accordance with BGI 553 item 9. The welding process produces vapors which can
cause damage to health if inhaled. Shielding gases displace air and are odorless! There is a
risk of suffocation if ventilation is inadequate and there is uncontrolled gas escape. Always
close the gas cylinder valve and depressurize the regulator at the end of work. Always
transport gas cylinders (including empty containers) with the protective cap screwed on!
Gas cylinders with damaged or leaking valves must be taken out of service immediately!
Welding work must not be carried out on containers which contain or have contained
gases, fuels, mineral oils or other highly flammable substances. Explosion hazard!
