Personal protection from arc radiation
Electric arcs are extremely bright and can cause irreversible damage to the eyes and burn
the skin severely. The skin of the face and eyes must be protected from intense ultraviolet
radiation by means of adequately dimensioned protective shields with special protective
glasses in accordance with DIN EN 470-1 and BGR 189. Persons or helpers in the vicinity of
the arc must be made aware of the dangers and equipped with the necessary protective
means. Non-combustible partitions must be set up so that other persons cannot be harmed
by the arc. All other areas of the body shall also be protected from radiation and molten
metal particles by appropriate means.
Synthetic clothing and half-shoes are not permitted due to metal and slag splatter.
Suitable head protection shall also be worn during overhead welding.
All persons in the vicinity of the arc must be made aware of the dangers of arc radiation
and be protected from it. For this purpose, welding protection curtains in accordance with
DIN EN 1598 must be set up around the workplace.
In our range you will find special flame-retardant work suits, welding aprons, welding
gaiters and welding shoes for your personal protection. For eye and face protection, we
offer automatically darkening welding helmets, and for optimum protection of the hands,
we have welding gloves with gauntlets in various designs and sizes to suit the different
