Select a suitable tungsten needle, which must be ground concentrically, and mount it (for
an overview of tungsten electrode types and their use, see table). We recommend the
tungsten needle "Gold", as this type has good welding properties and a good service life.
Connect the torch to the negative pole on the unit. Make sure that it is firmly mounted,
otherwise the welding current will not be transmitted properly!
Mount the supply gas hose on the pressure regulator of the bottle, then unscrew the argon
4.6 bottle and adjust the gas quantity according to the application.
Tip: adjusting the gas quantity is sometimes difficult for inexperienced welders. Simple
pressure regulators are difficult to read. For this case we offer a small flowmeter (art.no.
8623), which accurately determines the gas flow when placed on the torch.
Press the mains switch, the fan noise signals that the burner is ready for operation. Select
"LIFT TIG" at the selector switch (4) (Sambol on the far right).
Setting of welding parameters
The value of the welding current depends on the thickness and type of material as well as
on the welding position. Use approx. 30 A-40 A per mm of material thickness as a guide
and adjust this value to the workpiece. Set the welding current on the controller (3).
Observe the weld pool and adjust the welding current in relation to the material thickness.
Start welding
Put on your protective equipment, bring the torch close to the workpiece and operate the
switch. Touch the electrode to the workpiece and lift the torch again (lift arc ignition).
The welding arc is formed and the welding process starts.
Stop welding
Release the switch on the torch, briefly pull the torch away from the workpiece, the arc
goes out. Immediately return the torch to the vicinity of the weld pool to continue
protecting it with the gas still flowing out.
After the molten bath has cooled down, close the gas supply at the burner valve. Do not
switch off the unit immediately, let the fan run on during all welding processes to cool the
components. You will increase the service life of your welding machine with this measure.
TIG welders learn their profession in many months, here it only helps the layman to try and
practise in order to find out the right setting parameters in the course of time. Here are
